Kindergarten

At Leapfrog we follow the seven areas of UK Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and because of our very unique location situated in the Country Park, we concurrently provide a full Forest School program led by qualified FS practitioners, offering children the chance to learn, grow and thrive in a natural environment. Leapfrog is an accredited Forest School Development Centre.

We strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment designed to encourage children’s curiosity, exploration and enthusiasm for learning. We use the thematic approach to planning with children’s interests being at the forefront of all activities.

Our classroom is both outdoors and indoors. We set up clearly defined areas where the children can embrace ‘hands-on’ learning through literacy, art and design, science, and mathematics. physical and imaginative play where the children can freely move through self-chosen activities alongside adult-initiated activities.

The class is run by two qualified registered teachers, one English, and one Mandarin-speaking. English is the main medium of instruction. The Mandarin-speaking teacher constantly interacts with the children in Mandarin, and the children also have direct teaching during our small groups learning where they learn through games, songs, drama and numeracy activities.

Your child will learn skills, acquire knowledge, and demonstrate their understanding through the seven areas of learning and development through our EYFS-based curriculum and Forest School Program.

The prime areas are:

  1. Personal social and emotional development

  2. Physical development

  3. Communication and language

These areas will help your child to develop skills in the four specific areas:

  1. Literacy

  2. Mathematics

  3. Understanding the world

  4. Expressive arts and design
